DragonLance book: Dragons of the Hourglass Mage might be published

If all goes according to plan, Dragons of the Hourglass Mage will be released in the summer of 2009.
I guess I can call off my boycott of every thing Hasbro now. Since Raistlin is my favorite fantasy character and they had the nerve to announce this book back in 2006 and then pull this cancellation garbage.

I used to roleplay a character I created that was based on Raistlin. Originally the roleplaying was at Crossgen Comics's messageboard. But they went out of business so it moved to Comic Book Review but CBR never became popular and the site renamed to quarrels and quills.

My character had a twin brother, Qwaring, who was good with gadgets and was controlled by a genius. He still roleplays at Q&Q and is drawing a comic based on the roleplaying we did.

Our character names were based on the user names we used to sign up with. Mine originally was glcjr because I used my initials. But when Crossgen changed their messageboard and we all had to re-register, I changed my name.

It was fun but time consuming and I don't have a lot of spare time anymore so it had to end.

Former Pirates Jose Guillen rips into current team after 10 straight losses

“Too many babies here,” Guillen said—eliminating a few choice words that would make George Carlin blush. “They don’t know how to play the game and win the game right, the way it’s supposed to be played. And that’s the problem here. Now I know why this organization’s been losing for a while. Now I know.”
But one has to wonder if a .246 batter really has any right to judge his teammates.

Former Bush Press Secretary attacks Administration

Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a new memoir that President Bush relied on an aggressive "political propaganda campaign" instead of the truth to sell the Iraq war, it has been reported.

The Bush White House made "a decision to turn away from candor and honesty when those qualities were most needed" — a time when the nation was on the brink of war, McClellan writes in the book entitled "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception."

The way Bush managed the Iraq issue "almost guaranteed that the use of force would become the only feasible option," the book contends, according to accounts Wednesday in The New York Times and Washington Post.

"In the permanent campaign era, it was all about manipulating sources of public opinion to the president's advantage," McClellan writes.

And who enabled him to do this? Why the spin doctor otherwise known as the press secretary.

Democrat Lawyers say can't fully restore Michigan and Florida delegates

Because you know a state daring to decide when to hold their primary is wrong. The party is all that matters and its law is the law of the land. And when it says you can't do something, the country bows down and kisses the feet of the party.

Pictures from Mars

Here is the first photo of the latest landing on Mars. They think this is the most likely spot to find life.

I don't know but I kinda prefer this Mars...

It doesn't look like something taken from Death Valley.

Young T-Rex's faced Killer Winged Lizards

Very upsetting news for T-Rex fans. Young T-Rex's were fed on by Pterodactyl-like creatures. Which unlike previously thought, walked around on land stalking their preyrather than skimming the ocean surface like gulls.

A new study reveals a group of flying reptiles that lived during the Age of Dinosaurs some 230 million to 65 million years ago did not catch prey in flight, but rather stalked them on land.
Now one has to wonder what happened to the idea of feathers for dinosaurs...

ESV Study Bible Coming in October

Crossway will be releasing the ESV Study Bible on October 15, 2008. This looks like a real winner of a study bible. Based on the limited pdfs I've seen, the NIV Study Bible has some competition finally. I just wish they'd offer some samples from the Old Testament instead of just Luke and John.

An earlier date would be better though. After all schools are more likely to switch to the ESV Study Bible if they could see it in July and August and then have the campus bookstores have them in stock at the end of August. I think waiting until October 15 is really making it harder for the ESV Study Bible to make enroads.

Plus I want this study bible now. And if someone at crossway wants to send me a review copy I would be quite pleased to give a more detailed impression of it here.

You can also see the introduction to Luke here

Christianbook.com has this on pre-sale for $29.99. which is $20 off the listed price and I don't make a dime from giving you this link.

Pirates Double Header tomorrow

The Pirates' five-game winning streak was placed on hold.

Their scheduled game with the Atlanta Braves at PNC Park was rained out this afternoon, and it will be made up as part of a 12:35 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow.

Zach Duke and Jair Jurrjens, the scheduled pitchers for today, will have the first game. John Van Benschoten and Tim Hudson will have the second.

Phil Dumatrait and all other starters will be pushed back a day.

Neither game tomorrow will be televised.

Isn't that nice? Today's game was supposed to be. I guess: Dapper Dan Awards, Weekly Update, Eastern Golf, In my Own Words, Ms. Fitness USA, Amazing Sports Stories, Top 50 most outrageous moments, Poker Challenge, and FSN Final Score are considered essential programming that everyone clamors for. I know that there's not one single thing in there that I want to watch.

Poll shows Clinton with big lead in West Virginia

Even as she faces pressure from some to call her White House bid quits, Hillary Clinton holds a commanding lead in West Virginia, according to a new poll released Friday.

Clinton has a 43-point advantage over Obama, 66 percent to 23 percent, according to a new survey from the American Research Group.
And by Tuesday it will be neck and neck because the media wants big ratings as it keeps people on the edge of their seats. Or at least the ones that are actually paying attention to this foregone conclusion.

Union express concern over lack of offers to Barry Bonds

The players’ association has expressed concern to the baseball commissioner’s
office over the lack of offers to Barry Bonds, asking for additional information about the offseason’s free-agent market.
The union did not go as far as to file a collusion grievance on behalf of the 43-year-old outfielder, who remains unsigned since the San Francisco Giants decided not to make him an offer last year and he became a free agent.
“We’ve raised both general concerns and some player specific concerns,” Michael Weiner, the union’s general counsel, said Tuesday. Weiner said the only player the union specifically brought up in its discussions with the commissioner’s office was Bonds, who repeatedly has said he wants to play a 23rd major league season.
“I haven’t received any offers on Barry since he became a free agent,” said Bonds’ agent, Jeff Borris.
Management has repeatedly said there has been no concerted effort against Bonds.
“The union notified us that it was investigating potential collusion regarding Barry Bonds and asked for information, and we told them that there was absolutely no collusion with respect to Barry Bonds or any other free agent,” said Dan Halem, MLB senior vice president and general labor counsel. “We are aware of no facts which would support a collusion claim regarding Bonds or any other free agents.”

Oh please. He still hits homeruns and average. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his hitting at all. The Tigers should definitely be persuing him. And quite a few others in the American League. There is no way there's no collusion here.

Papa John's to sell Cleveland 23 cent pizzas, apologies for 'crybaby' T-shirts

To apologize, Papa John's will sell Cleveland residents a large,
one-topping pizza for 23 cents on Thursday. The 23 is an homage to James' jersey
number. The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.

Dear Papa Johns,

There are Cleveland Cavalier fans outside of Cleveland that are just as annoyed with your cry baby shirts.

Signed

A Beaver Falls Cleveland Cavaliers Fan

PS: I want my 23 cent Pizza!

Superdelegate IQ must be very small

Polls showed voters drifting toward Hillary Rodham Clinton before crucial
Democratic primary votes next week

so naturally the Superdelegates...
were falling increasingly in line behind Barack Obama.

Am I missing something? If people are rejecting Obama because of his associations, wouldn't it seem logical to NOT go buddy buddy with him at this time?

Drink Tax destroying Tavern Business?

"The power to tax is the power to destroy. The drink tax is destroying the tavern industry in Allegheny County," Mr. McCullough, an at-large Republican from Upper St. Clair said.

He has proposed to scale the drink tax down to 5 percent by July 1, and then repeal it in January because initial returns show the levy is on pace to exceed the $28 million it was expected to raise.

Implemented together with a $2-a-day tax on car rentals this year, the drink tax is part of a dedicated funding structure for the county's $30 million subsidy of the Port Authority.

Both levies were estimated to collect $32 million in revenue when they were approved within the county's $727.6 million budget.

This morning, Mr. McCullough said the drink tax alone is on pace to bring in more than $40 million in revenue based on receipts of the first three months of the levy.

So lets see, its raised MORE than was estimated so that means people are BUYING MORE than was anticipated. This is some sort of voodoo economics on determining that businesses are being destroyed?

Personally I think the drink tax should be RAISED. I don't want to share the roads with drunks.

The Trinity in the Old Testament

According to Gerald Bray, it is not good to try to find the Trinity in the Old Testament because “To admit belief in the Trinity without belief in Christ would be to confuse irretrievable the logic and purpose of revelation” (141, Doctrine of God). Agree or Disagree?

This was after he described the possibility of Genesis 18 as possible Trinity appearance.

I also found interesting his commentary on the number three being seen as perfection in Greek culture as pointed out by Philo of Alexanderia in his commentary on Genesis 18. And seen again in Clement as allegorical proof of the Trinity but it was abandoned by Calvin during the Reformation as too fanciful.
