Pirates Manager Search

After the first game of the World Series, I now know who I want to win the series: Boston. And I want them to win it in four. Now if Colorado wins the next game, I don't have a favorite anymore. All I want is the World Series to get over with as fast as possible. Now if the Pirates decide to announce their new manager before the World Series is over, then it falls back to: who cares about the World seres?

The Pitching coach for Boston WILL be the new Pirates Manager. If it was going to be an Indian he would have already been named. Get used to the name Farrell (not a bad Reformed name)...

That's what I'm thinking as well.

My memory must be going. I can't think of the Farrell you're thinking of. Probably as soon as I hit publish it will come to me.

Pirates manager search: Farrell likely to stay with Series winner
Thursday, November 01, 2007
By Paul Meyer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Pirates likely won't have an announcement concerning their new manager tomorrow. It also seems that whenever they do make that announcement it won't involve John Farrell.

Farrell, the Boston pitching coach who probably is -- or was -- high on Pirates general manager Neal Huntington's interview list, is said to be strongly leaning toward remaining with the Red Sox.

Farrell, who succeeded Huntington as Cleveland's minor-league director six years ago, joined the Red Sox just last winter, and it's believed he would prefer to stay in Boston rather than leave after one season. The Red Sox, who paid Farrell an estimated $350,000 in 2007, want him to stay and might sweeten his salary as an incentive.
