NCC Upset about SCHIP Veto

- “In the Gospel of Matthew 18:6 Jesus said: ‘If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were fastened around your neck and you were drowned in the depth of the sea.’”
Funny that scripture doesn't really seem to me to be talking about government entitlement programs. It seems based on the context to be talking about sin. And causing the little ones to sin
Matthew 18:7-8
Mt 18:7 “Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
Seems almost to be like causing little ones to believe that John 14:6
John 14:6-7
Jn 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know2 my Father as well.
doesn't indicate that Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven and all other religions are false.
Or that Acts 15:20, 29, 21:25, Romans 13:13, 1 Corinthians 5:1-11, 6:13-18, 10:8, 2 Corinthians 12:21, Galatians 5:19, Ephesians 5:3, Colossians 3:5, 1 Thessolonians 4:3, and Jude 1:7 do not condemn homosexuality as sin.
But an excellent passage to be quoted by the NCC. Maybe it will open their eyes. I doubt it.

You hit the nail on the head Gary. It simply comes down to this, Liberals quote Scripture for its "pithy" quality and Conservatives quote Scripture because its the Word of God.
Hello, sir.
I happened to come across your blog and saw that you are a PTS student. I've been considering applying at PTS to continue my theological education, but I've heard some negative things about the school. May I ask your opinion of the institution? You can email me at scribeguy@hotmail.com
Thanks!
I have only been there for about a month and a half so far. The faculty is mixed. Some Evangelical, some wackos(although that's only based on things I have heard from other students). The three professors I'm taking currently and will be taking again next term are Conservative to moderate from what I can tell. They don't wear their colors on their sleeves I have found. I have no complaints so far other than the extremely liberal text being used in one class and if your in the area, it is the best seminary in the region. More faculty and more courses offered at a time. It has the third best theological library in North America. Only trailing Princeton Theological Seminary and Union Theological Seminary(I think that's their name, they're in New York)
I would recomment the seminary based on my experience so far. Ben Glaser who comments ahead of you is also a student at PTS and has been there longer.
The scholarship at PTS is excellent. PTS is by far the best ACADEMIC seminary in the area. However if you are seeking an M. Div I would go to RPTS.
