Succession?

Yahoo has an interesting story on successionists in Vermont. Apparently support for succession has risen from 8% to 13% of the populations. They claim the United States has become an empire and to large to successfully govern.

I can certainly understand the desire to be free from the federal govermnet. However, I doubt Vermont could survive on its own. Perhaps they could join Canada instead of forming the Second Republic of Vermont. The first one lasted from 1777-1791.
